GRANDMA SADIE'S TEA CAKES

2 1/4 cups flour, sifted

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 teaspoons lemon flavor

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs, beaten

1 Tablespoon cream or milk

Sift flour once, measure, and add baking powder, salt, and

nutmeg. Sift flour mixture again. Add lemon flavor to butter and

cream thoroughly. Add sugar gradually and cream together until

light and fluffy. Add eggs and cream and flour and blend. Chill

until firm enough to roll. Place cookie mixture in a 10x15" sided

ungreased baking sheet and roll evenly. Sprinkle with sugar and

bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Cool 5 minutes and cut into

triangles by making 2 cuts down the 15" side and 3 cuts down the

10" side, finally cut cross the squares making triangles.

Makes 24 tea cakes
